Young People Advocacy

Providing in-patient & community mental health advocacy for the young people of Jersey.
At My Voice, we provide free, confidential and independent mental health advocacy for young people who are:
- Being seen by CAMHS
- On Robin Ward for mental health issues
- In Orchard House for assessment or treatment
- Having their freedom restricted under the Mental Health Law
It is common for young people to feel that their views and wishes are not being heard, but our advocates will listen.
There are many ways we can provide help and support to our young clients, including:
- Planning what to say at meetings with psychiatrists
- Getting adults to listen to them
- Ensuring they understand their rights
- Helping with decisions as to the most appropriate services needed and providing support in accessing them
- Helping them feel empowered and involved when decisions need to be made
- Helping to make a complaint
- Providing support at meetings and ensuring their views are heard
- Discussing their situation with others and helping to resolve any difficulties
