About us
Our story
The origin of My Voice can be traced back to 2006, when our CEO, Patricia Winchester, began specialising in mental health and capacity advocacy. Since then, she has dedicated herself to protecting the rights and interest of the most vulnerable Islanders, and she founded our small local charity.
My Voice employs a team of expert mental health and capacity advocates with specialist training and skills to enable them to work with clients with the most complex needs. We believe that Individuals with a mental illness or disorder should be recognised as equal citizens, who participate in society and control their own lives. When we’ve witnessed unfairness, we’ve challenged services, and we’ve campaigned for changes to mental health and capacity laws and improvements to the Mental Health Tribunal.
Since 2006 professional independent mental health and capacity advocacy has supported around 400 Islanders per year, whose ages range from 14 to 104 years old.
